2025 Engagement Ring Trends

Make them say "oh that's so you!"

Although we work to build upon personal style–a constant blend of boldness, and mix-matched perfection, we have to admit the engagement ring trends of 2025 have caught our eye. There’s a few surprises, a few predictable ventures, and turns out all of them are styles we here at Shahla Karimi have been dabbling in for…well, over a decade.

“We’re seeing a shift toward larger and more striking engagement rings, even as gold prices rise. Couples are viewing these rings not just as symbols of love but also as investments. Additionally, there’s a renewed interest in mined natural diamonds, especially in smaller center stones when set in weighty gold pieces.” -Shahla

Hollywood has spoken. With some of our favorite “it” women getting engaged at the end of last year it's only natural to see their rings spark major trends for the year ahead. Zendaya opted for an east west diamond with an elongated cushion, a style that we’re personally rather obsessed with.

Solitaires with a twist. Like the above mentioned ring, it's time to take the expected (solitaires) and add an element of surprise. Maybe that’s by turning the diamond sideways for an east west design, or maybe it's by mixing metals (another trend).

“This year we are focusing on mixing metals in a more interesting way, bezel set platinum on top of bombe rings to make the stone appear to float, platinum wraps on yellow shanks and even mixed metal earrings and bracelets. Having both metals on one piece makes mixing silver and gold fashion pieces more effortless.” -Shahla

If there’s one ring that’s been in our mind’s eye ever since it was placed on her finger, it's the marquise diamond Benny Blanco gave Selena Gomez. This simple yet powerful punch elongates the finger and compliments a wide array of wedding bands. What we love most about the marquise is its versatility in sizing. It will be delicate, chic, and dripping with elegance whether it's one carat or four (although we have to admit we’re partial to the four).

Not to deem ourselves the cool girl, but we’ve been doing clusters in heavy metals since before they were on trend. With mixed cuts and sizes, this trend is as individualistic as it gets. For example, pear and oval diamonds come together on a wave of gold metal to create a ring that’s off the beaten path while still remaining timeless. Pear is still one of our most popular shapes, followed closely by oval.

Chunky, statement-making, and eye-catching, the ring trend that has us peeping at hands across the country is Cocktail Rings as Engagement Rings. “Engagement rings are evolving to look more like right-hand or cocktail rings, emphasizing unique design over traditional center stones. Couples are drawn to these non-traditional styles because they express individuality and creativity. It's all about showcasing stunning craftsmanship and artistic flair, allowing for a more personal touch in their jewelry.” -Shahla

We’re seeing gemstones introduced in a big way complimenting another trend of the moment–unique centers with gemstones to OOAK diamond shapes.

If there’s one thing the trends of 2025 have taught us it's that the rules don’t matter. Go bold, go big, and opt for the rings that make people say “oh that’s so you.” It’s time to lean into the crossroads of personality and personal style. A place Shahla Karimi always likes to play.
