Shipping Destinations

We ship worldwide.

Shipping Times + Costs

All pieces are made to order and typically ship within 3 to 4 weeks of your purchase, unless otherwise noted on the product page. In-stock pieces will ship within 3 to 5 business days of purchase. In either case, we will notify you with tracking information when your piece is about to ship. International, two-day, and overnight shipping is available for additional fees that will be calculated at the checkout. All orders require an adult signature for the package to be released. Please note that Shahla Karimi is not responsible for packages once they have left the facility.

Returns + Exchanges

Quality guaranteed we want you to love your jewelry. If you are not satisfied with your purchase, we are able to offer exchanges or store credit on non-customized in stock pieces and fine jewelry that are in brand new, unworn condition. Please view our full Return Policy here.

Our Guarantee

Our jewelry is designed to withstand the rigors of everyday modern life, but precious metals and delicate stones aren’t invincible, and a bit of TLC can go a long way. Take a peek at our jewelry care guide to better preserve your jewelry.

We repair manufacturing defects for free up to 90 days from receipt, including shipping costs if in the USA. Any defects usually appear during the first two weeks of wear. Our warranty does not cover loss or theft, and any third party repairs or resizing will void it. Side stones up to .05 carat are covered. Center / engagement ring stones are not covered and we recommend you insure them, see Insurance below.

Repairs

We are happy to make repairs on any item for life. If the repair is not covered by warranty, the fee will be based on our cost. Email info@shahlakarimi.com with your name, what item needs a repair (item name, order number, or anything to help us identify), a description of the problem and a photo. We’ll respond within 1-2 business days to provide a quote.

Ring Sizing

In order to accurately size your ring, we recommend visiting your local jeweler for an in-house sizing. Additionally, we have purchasable ring sizers that can be delivered straight to your home. If you are unhappy with the fit of your piece, we can adjust its size at your request. Ring sizing starts at $150 and may increase depending on the piece. Insured shipping will be at the customer's expense. If you are interested in having your piece resized, we will provide you with a quote including insured shipping. When you are ready to have your ring resized, we will send you an insured label to ship your ring back to us. Individual customization charges beyond sizing will be accessed on a case-by-case basis. Please note that eternity bands (or any bands with stones set 360 degrees), cannot be resized. We can remake eternity bands at labor cost ($300 - $500 typically).

Payment Options

You can select your preferred payment method at checkout. We accept secure payments for both local & international customers via Credit Cards, Debit Cards, and Apple Pay. We also accept offline payments via direct bank deposit. We do not accept cash. Please note that an additional exchange fee may apply if your currency is other than US dollars.

Natural vs. Cultivated Diamonds

We see the beauty in all diamonds and respect the customer's choice to choose their diamond’s origin. Today, over 50% of our customers opt for cultivated diamonds.

Ethically Sourced Natural Diamonds

Natural, mined diamonds are ethically sourced by our trusted vendors. All of our vendors have protocol in place to guarantee certification through the Kimberly Process. The Kimberly process regulates trade in rough diamonds to prevent the flow of conflict diamonds while helping to protect legitimate trade in rough diamonds.

Cultivated Diamonds

Lab grown diamonds, also known as cultivated diamonds, are 100% atomically the same as mined diamonds, but are created aboveground in a lab. Additionally, they are a sustainable and affordable alternative to natural diamonds. Stones over .75 carat are typically 40-50% less than their mined counterparts. We are using AI to pull from nearly 100K diamonds across several hand selected vendors. Sometimes, one vendor has a higher quality stone at a lower price (if you see this, it really is the better deal, they may be pushing to move certain carat weights - we see it in real life too!) Our AI is constantly learning. For more unique stones, we personally source from a few select vendors that carry those shapes that are harder to find. Please note that one of our main cultivated diamond vendors, Diamond Foundry, has recently begun grading their diamonds in house using a GIA gemologist and providing certificates in place of an IGI, GCAL, or GIA certificate. We trust their grading system and stand by their certifications. If you would like a certificate other than a Diamond Foundry certificate / would like us to source your stone elsewhere, please contact us at info@shahlakarimi.com.

Heirloom + Outside Stones

We work with outside stones on a case-by-case basis. We do not work with stones sourced from competitors, inclusive of Blue Nile, Brilliant Earth, and anyone in the NYC Diamond District. Additionally, we don't work with stones below .50 carats. If you have an heirloom stone you’d like us to set in one of our current designs, or collaborate on a custom design with Shahla, we require a stone certificate (for the dimensions of your stone) and an appraisal (for an insured shipping value). We are not liable for lost or damaged stones in transit or in setting. Although we will do everything possible to return your heirloom stone back to you in your new setting, there is always a risk of loss or breakage of stone(s). If the stone is lost in transit, you will be entitled to the value the stone was insured for. However, we cannot offer compensation or replacement if the stone is broken during setting. To prevent this from happening, we only work with SI2+ stones to minimize any chance of damage in setting. A minimum of $2,500 is required for orders using heirloom stones.

Insurance

We are not personally liable for any jewelry once it ships. We use a 3rd party jeweler’s insurance during shipping which is void once the package is received by the recipient. It is your responsibility to insure your jewelry, specifically engagement rings, upon arrival. This can be done as a rider to your renter’s or homeowner’s insurance, or through a dedicated policy - we recommend Jeweler’s Mutual. We are happy to provide you with a receipt for replacement value (what you paid) upon request. Your insurance rider should include loss, loss of just the center stone, and theft.

Pricing

If our stone prices seem higher than our competitor's, it may be from the way we separate pricing - the setting estimate includes metal, design fees, polishing labor, side stones, and the stone fee includes the center stone, setting labor, shipping stone in from various locations to get us best options, insurance during setting, and lifetime stone tightening. A lot is included in the stone cost that people don’t see versus when they use someone in the diamond district (they are not liable as soon as the stone leaves their premises). We are diamond dealers who work with reputable mines and cultivators. Additionally, when we set stones we supply, we are liable for loss or damage until the product is shipped.

Custom + Bespoke

Know exactly what you'd like, but just haven't found it yet? Let's make something custom.Whether you are looking to customize an existing style, or create a one-of-a-kind piece, you'll work collaboratively with Shahla or a member of our team to bring your vision to life.

We'll start by establishing a budget, reviewing your inspiration, and narrowing down the key components you'd like to incorporate into the design of your custom piece. Based on your direction and our guidance, we will combine these aspects into 2D sketches so you can begin to visualize your custom piece. Once you land on a design, we'll source stones and assist you in choosing the best one for your piece. After both the design and stone are decided on, we'll create a computer-aided design (CAD) for you to approve. After the CAD is approved, we begin production! Shahla plays an integral role throughout the entire custom design process - she has final approval of all pieces.

Due to the nature of our small business / team, we require a $1000 deposit to begin sourcing and / or sketching - 100% will be applied to your order. A minimum of $2,500 is required for each customized design (example, a small change to an existing design) and a minimum of $5,000 is required for each bespoke piece (one of a kind, we have never created anything like it).

For more information, or to inquire about creating a custom piece, please email us at info@shahlakarimi.com.

Certifications

Natural Diamonds will come with a GIA certification and Cultivated diamonds will come with IGI, GCAL, GIA, or Diamond Foundry certification. One of our main cultivated diamond vendors, Diamond Foundry, has recently begun grading their diamonds in house using a GIA gemologist and providing certificates in place of an IGI, GCAL, or GIA certificate. We trust their grading system and stand by their certifications. If you would like a certificate other than a Diamond Foundry certificate / would like us to source your stone elsewhere, please contact us at info@shahlakarimi.com. Please note, the majority of our colored stones, inclusive of some colored diamonds (champagne, salt & pepper, etc) do not come with certificates. To guarantee you are getting the best possible stone quality, Shahla or a member of our team personally sources these stones and they standby their material, clarity, and color.

International Transactions

International taxes may be applied depending on your country's taxes policy. Customer is responsible for the payment of duties. Customs duty is calculated as a percentage of the customs value of the goods: The percentage or rate varies depending on the type of goods. You can check the tariff applicable in the TARIC database for the EU. The customs value is made up of: the price paid for the goods and the insurance cost.
