A Letter from SK on Love, Design, and Redefining Jewelry

Just as your breath catches when the Manhattan skyline first comes into view—whether you’re speeding over the bridge or climbing those subway stairs into the golden light of Dumbo—I want our jewelry to spark that same quiet wonder. Joy, but not the fleeting kind. Joy that roots itself, that lasts.

Like architects, we think about how each piece will be seen, felt, and lived with. A ring might accompany you on a first date, a breakup, a wedding, or those quiet, ordinary days that make up a life. Jewelry isn’t just decoration; it’s a witness to your stories. And for us, it’s an honor to create something that holds meaning in every chapter.

This all began more than a decade ago in my tiny Brooklyn apartment on Devoe Street, which, for a time, became a little incubator for relationships. Some of us went on to build a billion-dollar company (Hinge, making love more tangible in its own way), but I chose a path where relationships were crafted by hand, one piece of jewelry at a time. I believed these pieces could say something lasting, something deeply personal. Thanks to you, they have. And they still do.

It’s been a while since I’ve reintroduced myself. So here goes: I’m Shahla, the founder of this all-women, fiercely talented brand. I’m also a mom, a wife, and someone who believes life should be both beautiful and absurdly fun. I live for the elegance of a perfect engagement ring, a vintage chair sourced in the perfect shade of emerald, but also for the rare bliss of watching someone passionately perform Strokin’ at karaoke.

My love for architecture runs deep. Skylines, to me, are poetry: wildly different buildings somehow standing together in harmony. I wanted my jewelry to do the same. Diamonds that shouldn’t match but somehow do. Pieces that feel timeless and modern all at once. Rings that nod to Zaha, Gaudí, or Ando—not just in shape but in spirit.

This year, I’ve been dreaming bigger. What can jewelry mean? What can a brand stand for? The answers I’ve found are surprisingly simple: joy, connection, and craft. We want to create pieces that don’t just sparkle but that elevate your moments—whether it’s the quiet ritual of putting on your favorite earrings before work or slipping on a ring that symbolizes a love story only you could write.

As we head into 2025, I’m thrilled to share that we’re launching eight new collections, each one a love letter to architecture, storytelling, and design. Through this newsletter and our socials, we’ll take you deeper into the process—the inspiration behind each piece and the craft that makes it come alive. None of this would be possible without you or without the extraordinary women on our team, who bring their talent and heart to everything we do. They’re the kind of people who can fix a production disaster at 2 a.m. and still remember that time you told them your niece posted a photo of Harry Styles on IG (and you actually thought it was their boyfriend).
