After six years designing custom engagement rings for clients at SHAHLA, I finally had the chance to design my own. No pressure.
I knew I didn’t want a traditional look — and definitely not a one-ring-fits-all moment. So I created a set: two solitaire diamond rings that stack in a slightly offbeat, completely intentional way. It's a modern take on the toi et moi style, minus the romance overload.
Two Stones, Two Settings, One Stack
The idea was simple: two standalone rings that could be worn together or apart — not locked into a single setting. The first is a 3-carat yellow emerald-cut diamond with clean, sharp lines. The second is a 2.5-carat white oval diamond, set high and minimal. When stacked, they naturally offset each other, creating an asymmetric silhouette that feels bold without trying too hard.
I sourced both stones myself in August 2023 and dialed in the settings until the structure and silhouette felt effortless. If you’ve ever worked in fine jewelry, you know: the tiny details make or break a design. This was no exception.
Behind the Scenes
Here’s a look inside the design process — from my original sketches to the 3D CAD renders used to bring the rings to life:

Yes, I Knew Where They Were Hidden
My fiancé proposed in May 2024. Technically, it wasn’t a surprise — I knew exactly where the rings were hidden (and yes, I tried them on more than once). Still, there was something cool about finally seeing them on my hand in that moment — not in the studio, not in a CAD file — but exactly where they were meant to be.
The Next Chapter: Ibiza, Summer 2026
We’re getting married next summer in Ibiza. The energy there — relaxed but elevated — aligns with how I wanted the rings to feel. Right now, I’m sketching wedding band ideas and trying to design something that adds to the stack without making it feel overdone. Still minimal. Still strong. Still us.
For Anyone Designing Their Own Ring
If you’re going the custom route, don’t be afraid to break format. Your engagement ring doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s — and it definitely doesn’t have to follow tradition to feel timeless. Make something you actually want to wear every day. That’s what I did.
